Point 5, an Americana acoustic band, is one of Southwest Wisconsin’s best kept musical secrets and on Friday, May 10th, 7:30 pm, they’ll perform a Mother’s Day Weekend concert at Folklore Village. While the secret is coming out (they were highlighted on WPR’s Simply Folk this year), the band still loves to play local Dodgeville and Mineral Point bars, benefit concerts and local southwestern stages. The band consists of Monica and Aaron Dunn (harmony vocals, rhythm guitar), Paul Biere (banjo, dobro, harmony vocals), Andy Hatch (mandolin) and Carole Spelic (stand up bass, harmony vocals). With impeccable and soothing vocal harmonies from the Dunn partnership and tasteful instrumental breaks from Andy, Paul and Carole, the band moves seamlessly through an array of songs and acoustic styles, including bluegrass, folk, originals, and gospel, with creativity and verve. They truly let the songs and lyrics shine through, leaving the listener with the emotional impact of the song itself. Aaron’s original songs conjure up picturesque scenes of the landscape of Southwest Wisconsin and lately, Point 5 has been performing more and more of these heartfelt originals. Bring the mother in your life for a memorable concert together! Reserve your tickets at 608-924-4000 http://folklorevillage.org/t2/home

If you can believe it, the Hatch's and Dunn's had their babies on the same day! Yes, August Hatch and Colette Dunn certainly made October 21st a day we will never forget. Pictures will be posted soon.
After this Saturday night's CD release party and show you will see that we have nothing else on the calendar. This is because our band is expecting two babies! Andy and Caitlin with their first and Monica and Aaron with their third — both due in October! But do not fear we will let you know as soon as we schedule some winter shows. We will all need a winter pick-me-up come January for sure.
Our debut album is here! Check out some of the tracks below on Point Five Radio!
You can place your order NOW through the Point Five Store.

“Point Five is an Americana Acoustic Band from Mineral Point that really rocks! ... I really liked their sound and was impressed with the song [selection] which included material by Whiskeytown, The Greencards, ... Gillian Welch, John Hiatt ... as well as rollicking jam-based covers of Gomez, Ryan Adams, Nickel Creek, and Alison Krauss ... Please take the time to check them out when they play in your area or make the trip to Mineral Point to hear them. You won’t be sorry.”
